[Development Case] Antenna for Ultra-Small Satellites
Introducing a case study of achieving a weight reduction of under 35g for Ka-band antennas.
We would like to introduce a case where we developed an "ultra-small satellite-mounted antenna." We received a request to develop an ultra-small antenna for use in a 6U-sized CubeSat, with the background of wanting to further miniaturize the X-band antenna developed for the small satellites "Hodoyoshi" and "Procyon" to be mounted on a 6U-sized ultra-small satellite. As a solution, for the X-band antenna, we innovated the shape and structure of the antenna itself to control directivity and gain, while for the Ka-band antenna, we incorporated material selection and structural innovations to balance strength and electrical performance. [Development Overview (Partial)] ■ Challenges - Directivity tailored to communication forms - Miniaturization and weight reduction ■ Achievements - The X-band antenna achieved a weight of less than 15g, and the Ka-band antenna achieved a weight of less than 35g - The gain of the Ka-band antenna exceeded the target, reaching 16.3dBi *For more details, please refer to the related links or feel free to contact us.
